“You want to know how I did it?”: Underground, Word Capture, Straight Refusal and Other Forms of Resistance in the Development of Insurgent Social Studies

This paper describes the ways that veteran insurgent justice minded social studies teachers engage a critical pedagogy despite school and district constraints limitations. Examining teachers with twelve years or more classroom experience defend and expand their pedagogy in unsupportive environments.
