Investigating Data Literacy: The Role of Data Visualizations in the Social Studies Classroom

Data literacy has become increasingly important in K-12 education. However, we know little about teaching and learning data literacy in social studies. This study provides insights into the prevalence of data visualizations in social studies texts, the various roles they play in providing information, and potential challenges for students.
