Meeting the Challenge of Teaching Controversial Issues: Domestic and International Studies

Democracy is in crisis. Scholars argue that teaching controversial issues is a cornerstone of democratic education and peace-building. Yet it is difficult work and many teachers avoid it. This symposium presents domestic/international research that identifies promising practices and resources for teaching controversy, and outlines an agenda for new research.
