“Rocks and Shoals”: Navigating a Path between Standards, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge

This paper describes a teacher education program’s efforts to conform to the structure of the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework for Social Studies Standards. The program revised existing courses, added structured field experiences, and the developed a new course built around the C3 Framework’s “Inquiry Arc.”
